Contribute

The Contribute page details how to participate in the project, including governance reminders and license info (see Licenses and Rights).
It serves as the gateway for Account Creation and data import via the Import Process Description.

Data Sharing

All data deposited on the platform (genomic sequences and metadata) belongs to its data depositor, i.e. the user who performed the upload.
By default, newly deposited data is private, visible only to the depositor, except for a limited set of fields:
Arbogen ID, Sample ID, Infection Loc Admin0, Sampling Date, Serotype, Genotype, Lineage, Virus Species.

Data may evolve through three statuses:

  • Private status: Only the depositor sees full data. Others see only the limited fields above.
  • Shared status: Data explicitly shared with a Working Group is fully visible to all members.
  • Public status: Data is fully visible to the entire Arbogen community.

⚠️ Important: changing status is irreversible (e.g. once public, data cannot be made private again).

Users may request access to private data through the interface (see Data Sharing Requests). The depositor will receive the request and can approve or decline it.

Anonymity

To preserve user confidentiality, no names, first names, or emails are disclosed platform-wide.

  • Within a Working Group: members are identified by name to support collaboration.
  • At the platform level: users are identified by their handle only.

It is possible to contact a user to create a Working Group by using their handle, without exposing personal information.
